Ivana Adaime Makac is a visual artist based in Paris. Working across various media, including installation, video, and photography, she frequently incorporates living beings—such as plants, crickets, locusts, silkworms, and mice—into her pieces. These small animals, often bred as food for domesticated animals or used in laboratory testing, take on a central role in her installations.
Adaime Makac creates environments for these creatures, often designed as “consumable” sculptures on which they can feed and live, as seen in Le Banquet (2011-2016) and Rééducation (2011-ongoing). The artist takes responsibility for maintaining the freshness, edibility, and livability of these habitats, adding a performative dimension to her work that embodies care for its inhabitants. Her use of living beings reflects an interest in cycles and the evolving, unfinished nature of forms.
After studies of art history in Universidad de Buenos Aires she obtains her diploma (DNSEP) at École supèrieure d’art des Pyrénées in 2006 and a MA art research at Université Paris-Panthéon Sorbonne in 2010. Her work has been exhibited in France, Argentina, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Canada, United States, Libya and China
