He works mainly on wall paintings and drawings with ink on paper, widely recognized for his minimal black and white artworks, where stylized expressive characters—often represented with oddly shaped eyes—stand out in crowded scenes that frequently reference the world of art and music.
He has received notable awards, including the Prix du Centre Culturel Français du Luxembourg (1995) and the Premio Cairo (2007). His solo exhibitions span prestigious venues such as WIZARD GALLERY in Milan (2023), MAMbo in Bologna (2018), and Raum Italic in Berlin (2016), showcasing his unique narrative-driven approach to art. Gilberti has also participated in significant group exhibitions, including “141 – Un secolo di disegno in Italia” (2021), the Biennale del Disegno in Rimini (2016), and the Quadriennale d’Arte di Roma (2004), among others. His work has been displayed internationally, from Seoul and Istanbul to Brussels and Valencia, reflecting his global recognition.
With a career spanning over two decades, Gilberti continues to explore themes of humor, irony, and contemporary culture through his artistic practice.
