The artwork may seem, at a glance, an innocent portrait of wildlife. However, below this somewhat naive magnifying glass are hidden issues of greater depth such as the nest defense (in a way of protection), the perseverance (woodpecker), the concept of family (bees) and the relativity towards death (represented by a group of ants in search of injured or killed insects). While the snake expresses the lurking danger, the chameleon is a pivotal character, watching life goes by from afar, with the indifference that represents one of the great evils of our time.
