FUORI TUTTO recounts the vitality and plurality of Italian and international artistic research among painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, video, installation, performance and sound experimentation.
Artists featured in the exhibition include Rosa Barba, Gabriele Di Matteo, Elisabetta Di Maggio, MASBEDO, Jannis Kounellis, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Pedro Reyes, and Patrick Tuttofuoco. Among the architects, projects by Giorgio Grassi, Matilde Cassani, Francesca Torzo and DEMOGO have been selected to give life to a long-distance dialogue between authors of different generations, united by the international dimension of their relative design activities.
The exhibition also becomes the place to narrate the working process behind MAXXI’s photographic commissions, such as the collective photographic project Atlante Sapienza22 involving Iwan Baan, Antonio Biasiucci, Silvia Camporesi, Marina Caneve, and Carlo Valsecchi on the Sapienza University City of Rome, and Valentina Vannicola’s La Precessione Mistica, a photographic transposition of the XXIX canto of Dante’s Purgatorio.
Gabriele Di Matteo. China Made in Italy
SOLO SHOW
The China Made in Italy project, by Gabriele Di Matteo comes from the awareness that patenting a single pictorial style is almost impossible such as it is impossible to apply claims related to copyrights to any artistic imaginary. Since the beginning of his artistic career, Di Matteo has always questioned how the active presence of the author during the painting process should have a role strongly tied to the manual exercise of the pictorial practice itself.
