Standing Woman

"The great advantage of always painting a body is that there is a whole body language that can be expressed. This body language, when I mix it with the language of water, reflections, and transparencies, gives us a woman who is waiting. Her body tells us that she is waiting, but almost impatiently. This painting, and indeed painting in general, is very calm yet also carries that psychological tension of what this woman is doing, what she is waiting for. For me, that is the message of the entire painting".
